2015 has got off to a great start for Sutton Coldfield Speakers’ Club. In January we held an internal competition to select our representatives for the West Midlands Area Speech and Topics competitions. On November 10th a team from Sutton Coldfield Speakers’ Club competed for The Blarney Stone Trophy in Stourbridge. Our opponents were the Stourbridge and Wolverhampton Speakers’ Clubs and the theme for the evening was, ‘Trains, Boats and Planes’. The Midlands District of the Association of Speakers Clubs have introduced a new trophy awarded annually to the club, in the midlands, with the largest increase in membership.
